Knoxville Creative - Work, Play, Live - Volume 1

Welcome to the first feature from my photo series, Knoxville Creatives: Work + Play + Live! I love Knoxville, TN and I wanted to be able to showcase those unique and creative people who make Knoxville such an awesome city to work, play and live in.

Meet Garrett Thomson. If you're in the Knox music scene, then chances are you have heard of Garrett. I met Garrett back in Nashville where we went to college together at MTSU and participated in the same organizations within the music business program there. Garrett is the epitome of what makes Knoxville so unique. He works hard to bring awareness to the music scene here in scruffy city and you will find him working around the clock to bring you the cities newest and best music festival, Rhythm N Blooms.

What is your favorite outdoor activity?: Anything involving floating on a body of water with a beer. Pools, lakes, oceans, rivers, etc. I also like hiking and exploring random places in Knoxville.

If you had to pick one restaurant in Knoxville to eat at for the rest of your life, where would it be and why?:
I wouldn't live very long, but Stock & Barrel makes a great burger. If my heart could hack it, I would eat there every day.

What is one thing you like about your home that you think is unique?:
There is just a lot of history with the house and the neighborhood that I appreciate. The house was built in the 1930s and The Adair Gardens neighborhood is one of Knoxville's historic districts.

Do you have any pets?: We have a 4-year-old rescue named June. My wife got a kit for her birthday to find out what breed she is. She's a bulldog/terrier/pug/Pomeranian mix. She also smiles which is pretty funny to see.

Last but not least, what do you love about Knoxville?:
Knoxville is a great place to live and to participate. It is big enough that you can achieve something significant, but small enough that you don't need to be a millionaire to do it. This community believes in one another and loves to support each other.
